These further measures are being implemented in order to minimise the risk of infection:

  • Don't go inside the arena unless you have to
  • Don't go to registration unless you have to (i.e. to register or pay)
  • Go directly to the start (see map below), have your run, download, then go home!
  • Unfortunately the weather is not looking kind enough for us to have an outdoor download, but please remember to download (by Registration), but don't linger there!
  • Please bring along your own hand sanitiser and take your rubbish away with you.

Check before you travel to the event!
Nobody wants to cancel the event (unless we have to). Please follow some simple measures and help to not spread the virus:
  • Don't attend the event if you have returned from a high risk area (list here)
  • Don't attend the event if you are feeling even slightly unwell
  • Don't attend the event if someone in your close family is feeling even slightly unwell
  • Follow the government guidance and NHS guidelines

Awards and Trophies -
Trophies will be awarded to the first “Scot” in Men’s Open and Women’s Open classes.

a) born in Scotland
b) have at least one parent who was born in Scotland
c) a current member of the Scottish Orienteering Association
Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd each category (irrespective of being a “Scot”).
Map notes-
  • Black circles – shooting ‘butts’.
  • Black crosses – man made features – usually horse jumps. These do move sometimes, but were accurate when the map was made!
  • There are many minor unmapped ditches – only the most prominent are mapped. Some ditches in the north of the area have been dredged and in places the gorse alongside them has been cut down - it is lying on the ground and is shown as green.
  • Roads at the North and South of the map are Out of Bounds and have been marked with a thick ‘forbidden to cross’ purple line.
  • A green dot may represent either a bush or a small distinctive tree.  Larger distinctive trees are shown with a green circle or as a vegetation boundary (see map sample).

Safety Information -
  • There are many other organised activities which may be taking place on the area at the same time, including Segways, Archery, Horse Riding, Shooting, Off-roading (Quad bikes / Argo cats) and Mountain biking. Courses will be planned to avoid these areas, but there is no physical barrier in some instances. There is a large shooting area marked with olive green which must be avoided.
  • There will be other activities taking place on the area at the same time, including walking and dog walking (it is a popular area). We will notify these other users as best we can about the event. Please be respectful.
  • There is one residential area on the map. Courses will not go near there. Please be respectful.
  • The area is rough in places. There are many drainage ditches, the most prominent of which are mapped.
  • The route to Start 2 will be along the pavement by a road, and will involve crossing 2 minor roads. Courses will not cross any roads.
  • Roads are out of bounds during the event.

  • People travelling alone should leave appropriate information at Registration.
