Start the New Year as you mean to go on - by going orienteering!
This is a low-key event on 1st January - the focus is on good maps, good courses, and bare-bones organisation.

COVID-19
It is up to you to check the latest Scottish Orienteering Association Guidance to decide whether you can take part. If it is not possible to hold the event as planned, we will try to re-schedule to a later date. If that is not possible we will refund entries, minus any administration fees from the entry website. It is likely that guidance will be along the following lines:

Date - 1st January 2021
Venue - Bannockburn West
Start / Finish - here.
Parking - there is no organised parking, but you are likely to find parking spaces at Bannockburn Community Centre - it is a 5 minute walk from there to the Event Centre. Directions here. There is also parking by Bannockburn Library.
Clothing - No restrictions. Full leg cover recommended. Grippy shoes recommended - especially if icy and slippery.
Map - 1:4000, sprint specification. Brand new map December 2020 by Graham Gristwood.
Starts - 11:00 - 13:00
Courses close - 13:30
Courses - Long (optimal distance approx 4-4.5km)
Short (optimal distance approx 3-3.5km)
Both courses are as difficult as the terrain allows.
Timing - Touch-free SportIDENT. SIACs available for hire.
Terrain - New area for orienteering. Mixed urban terrain and steep sided river valley. Expect big route choices and quite a lot of climb!
U16s - Note that U16s are welcome but must be accompanied due to road crossings.
Officials - Planned and organised by Graham Gristwood and Jon Cross (MA).
Entries - Online entries (until 31st December), no entry on the day. Seniors £8, Juniors/Students £5. Non-BOF/SOA members £2 supplement.
Note that we will order maps before Christmas, so there are only 60 maps - i.e. enter early to guarantee a map!
