THE LAKELAND WARRIOR (WRE)
3-4TH DECEMBER 2022
Masterplan Adventure invites you to the 6th Lakeland Warrior weekend, comprising top-quality orienteering in the challenging terrain of the Lake District, using lidar-remapped and partly new areas. In the past this has been a predominantly elite-focussed weekend, but this time we are offering three courses - the two WRE courses ("M21E/Long" and "W21E/Medium"), plus a Short course.
Both events have World Ranking Event (WRE) status, so if you wish to receive world ranking points, you need to have an IOF eventor account / ID (and thus a world ranking). This doesn't stop non-ranked people from running the same courses, but the results we send to the IOF (for world ranking purposes) will only include those in this "world ranking class". The start list will have non-ranked runners first, in seeded order based on BO rankings, followed by the ranked runners, based on world ranking.
Entries: https://www.sientries.co.uk/event.php?event_id=10530
Saturday - Middle - Great Tower
Technical, runnable woodland. Start times: 11:00 - 13:00
Men/Long: 4.8km, +245m
Women/Medium: 4.2km, +190m
Short: 3.0km, +140m
Sunday - Middle - Grizedale Tarn (a partly new map)
Tough, detailed forest terrain between Dale Park (Graythwaite) and Grizedale. The challenging nature of the terrain means these course lengths should not be underestimated! Start times: 10:00 - 12:00.
Men/Long: 4.4km, +165m
Women/Medium: 3.7km, +140m
Short: 2.4km, +100m
Competitors can enter other courses (e.g. men wishing to run the shorter women's course) but they will start first and will not receive WR points. The WRE courses will use 1:10,000 maps and the Short course will use 1:5,000 maps.
This weekend is also perfect preparation for the JK 2023.
If you are interested in additional training, please use the "contact us" form on this website.
Entries are also open to overseas national and club teams, who we encourage to combine the racing weekend with a short training camp the week before to experience more of the excellent (and snow-free) terrain.
